Kanye West Put John Legend's Texts On Twitter And Chrissy Teigen Has Had It

If you have been living under a rock, you may not know that Kanye West has been firing up Twitter with incessant tweets about how much he apparently loves President Donald Trump. Like loves Trump more than Kanye loves Kanye, which we didn't think was possible. Kanye calls this "free thinking."
You don't have to agree with trump but the mob can't make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don't agree with everything anyone does. That's what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.
— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 25, 2018 Source: TwitterAnd Donald Trump loves it, of course:
Thank you Kanye, very cool! https://t.co/vRIC87M21X
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 25, 2018It got so bad that Kanye's wife, Kim Kardashian, called to have a little intervention, which he promptly reported to his followers:
my wife just called me and she wanted me to make this clear to everyone. I don't agree with everything Trump does. I don't agree 100% with anyone but myself.
— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 25, 2018And she tried to defend him herself, to mixed results:
To the media trying to demonize my husband let me just say this... your commentary on Kanye being erratic & his tweets being disturbing is actually scary. So quick to label him as having mental health issues for just being himself when he has always been expressive is not fair
— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) April 25, 2018He’s a free thinker, is that not allowed in America? Because some of his ideas differ from yours you have to throw in the mental health card? That’s just not fair. He’s actually out of the sunken place when he’s being himself which is very expressive
— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) April 25, 2018But he has only doubled-down, advertising his signed MAGA hat:
A lot of celebrities and friends of Kanye don't know what to say, but seem to want him to stop:
This shit is outta control.. I’m DONE. https://t.co/fgMPPmmmik
— ICE T (@FINALLEVEL) April 25, 2018Two close friends of Kim and Kanye are John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. John wrote a measured reflection on the situation on his Twitter, but he didn't mention Kanye by name:
I imagine there's some comfort in imagining a future without racism and projecting that onto the present. Thinking if we just deny the truth, it doesn't exist. If history is erased, we don't have to deal with its consequences. However...
— John Legend (@johnlegend) April 25, 2018Far too many people don't have the luxury of closing their eyes and ears. They feel it in their lives and can't act like what they see and know doesn't exist.
— John Legend (@johnlegend) April 25, 2018They know their family was destroyed by deportation or incarceration. They know their loved one was denied safe harbor because of their religion. They know their son or daughter was shot because their skin color evoked fear
— John Legend (@johnlegend) April 25, 2018They see the statistics about black applications for real estate or loans or employment being turned away because their name was Jamal and not James
— John Legend (@johnlegend) April 25, 2018I love that great, brilliant artists have the power to imagine a better future. But artists can't be blind to the truth.
— John Legend (@johnlegend) April 25, 2018The defining trait of Trump's campaign and political profile was his embrace of white supremacy. He made it clear every time he spoke. Some serious cognitive dissonance to ignore that for the other x% you might find appealing. I guess I agree with >1% of anyone's thoughts though
— John Legend (@johnlegend) April 25, 2018In private, Legend was apparently reaching out to his old friend. But it didn't stay private for long. Kanye screenshot their alleged text exchange and put it on Twitter:
In his message, Legend writes that he hopes Kanye reconsiders aligning himself with Trump, because he has enormous influence with his fans. He wants him to know how Trump's policies have particularly hurt people of color, and that it's a betrayal to them to back this administration. Kanye dismisses this as "manipulation."
Teigen also wrote on Twitter that she is getting messages to intervene with Kanye, and wants to make it clear that they have been trying:
Everyone keeps asking me to comment on shit. Comment on psycho Tami Lasagna, whom I refuse to give the joy to, say something about RHOA, speak up about kanye. When it comes to people we know, we DO speak up. To THEM. not on Twitter. And sometimes, I guess it makes it to Twitter.
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) April 26, 2018Yes, sometimes it does end up on Twitter, which Legend decided to take advantage of:
This is the most elaborate and complex google pixel phone ad I have ever seen. https://t.co/RYSZcJxUk3
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) April 26, 2018This seems like a painful situation, but everyone appears to be trying to make the best of it:
@KimKardashian are we still doing dinner Friday or no lol
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) April 26, 2018Yes but maybe no phones 🤣📵📵📵📵😂 https://t.co/zIEZS28DXC
— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) April 26, 2018So many years have been packed into this week. No more please, brain hurts.
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) April 26, 2018Same.
